SQL is a computer language that is used to extract data from a relational database. This course will utilize the specific syntax for querying within Microsoft Access. The fundamentals of creating SQL statements will be covered in detail, familiarizing the student with statement clauses, keywords, and special terms required to build a specific query. A variety of queries will be created to gain an understanding of options such as: sorting; grouping; combining query results; joining related data; creating calculated fields; using functions; and specifying criteria. The student will learn how to create Subqueries and Data-Definition Queries, both of which can only be created by using SQL. This course is a great lead-in to Visual Basic Application.
